Information we handle
- Account information: your name, email address, protected password credentials when you choose a password, and sign-in sessions. If you use Google sign-in, we receive your Google account identifier, name, email verification status and profile image, and retain the provider information needed to authenticate you. We do not receive your Google password.
- Your library: questions, generated replies, saved conversations, reflection notes and chapter progress.
- Optional preferences: the reader’s age range, Bible familiarity, reply style, interests and any context you choose to provide. We do not ask for a date of birth.
- Payments: the account email, plan, transaction and subscription references, amounts, payment status and access dates. Payment details entered into Paystack’s checkout are handled by Paystack. GodlyChat does not receive your full card number or mobile-money PIN.
- Service and security information: request metadata such as IP address and browser information, error records, usage counts and estimated AI usage costs used to operate and protect the service.
Why we use it
We use this information to sign you in, provide and save conversations, personalize replies when requested, keep your library, manage paid access, prevent abuse and respond to support requests. Account details are needed for account features; preferences and personal reflection notes are optional.
Questions and notes may reveal religious beliefs or other sensitive information. Share only what is needed. Avoid passwords, payment credentials, precise addresses and private details about other people. The service is not a confidential counselling channel.
What goes to the AI provider
To generate a live reply, we send your question, the current conversation history and any saved personalization preferences to OpenAI, together with the character’s source passages and our response instructions.
Your separate personal reflection notes, account name, account email and unrelated conversations are not included in these AI requests. If you put identifying information into a question or preference, it becomes part of the content sent.
We request that generated responses are not stored for later retrieval through the API. This is not a promise of zero provider retention: OpenAI’s processing and security retention are governed by its own terms and privacy practices. Read OpenAI’s Privacy Policy.
Service providers and location
Google Cloud hosts the application and account database in Germany. OpenAI processes live AI requests. When you choose Google sign-in, Google authenticates you and shares your basic profile and email with GodlyChat; we do not request access to Gmail, Drive or your contacts. When you choose to pay, Paystack handles checkout and payment processing; its banks and payment partners may also process the transaction.
These providers may process data outside Ghana under their own service arrangements. See Google’s Privacy Policy and Paystack’s Privacy & Cookie Policy.
Access is limited to what is needed to run the service, investigate a support or security issue, meet a legal obligation or protect people and the service. We do not sell personal information or use conversation content for advertising.
Cookies and your device
Essential sign-in cookies keep you authenticated. Browser storage and a service worker support the installed app, public artwork and offline reading. Older local reading data may remain on a device until you remove it through your browser’s site-data controls.
The offline cache is for public reading materials, not your private account API responses. Optional Google Analytics cookies are used only if you accept analytics. Your choice is saved in this browser. We do not use advertising cookies. Blocking essential cookies can prevent sign-in; clearing site data may remove local reading data and offline downloads.
Optional visit analytics
When analytics is enabled and you accept it, Google Analytics helps us understand visit times, page views, referring websites, approximate location, browser and device categories, and engagement. Google uses analytics cookies to distinguish visits. It receives technical connection information, including your IP address, as part of handling these requests.
We send page addresses without query strings or fragments and use general page titles. We do not send your account name, email, conversation IDs, questions, replies, reflections, personalization preferences or payment references as analytics events. Advertising personalization and Google signals are disabled.
You can decline without losing any app features, or change your choice below. Declining stops future analytics collection from this browser; it does not delete information already received by Google. Clearing browser storage resets your choice. Read how Google uses information from sites that use its services.
Retention and deletion
Account information and your saved library remain while your account is active, unless you delete them or ask us for help removing them. Account deletion removes your live profile, preferences, conversations, reflections, progress and credentials.
Minimal payment and subscription records may remain for reconciliation, disputes and record-keeping after the app account link and checkout email are removed. Usage totals without that account link may remain for cost control. Backups expire on a rolling schedule; deletion does not instantly erase existing backup copies or records held independently by payment and AI providers.
We retain support and security records only as needed for the request, service protection or applicable obligations. Contact us about a particular record or retention request. Resolve pending payments and stop recurring billing before deleting your account; account deletion is not a substitute for cancelling renewal.
Your choices and rights
In the account menu, you can edit or clear preferences, download your account data and delete your account after confirming your password, or after a recent Google sign-in for Google-only accounts. Contact info@simusim.com to ask about access, correction, deletion, consent withdrawal or objections to processing. We may verify your identity and explain any records that must be retained.
You may also contact Ghana’s Data Protection Commission about a privacy concern. Applicable rights depend on your circumstances and location.
Families and younger readers
Our Terms of Service set account eligibility and family-use requirements. An age-range preference shapes reading style; it does not verify age or parental consent.
Adults using the service with children should supervise the conversation and avoid providing a child’s identifying or sensitive information. If you believe a child has supplied information without appropriate permission, contact us so we can review and remove it where appropriate.
Security, updates and contact
We use HTTPS, account access controls and restricted server credentials to protect information. No online service can guarantee complete security, and conversations are not end-to-end encrypted.
Updates to this policy will appear here with a new effective date. Contact GodlyChat support if you have questions about a change or how your information is handled.
